Birthday Bake

For my birthday I invited people for afternoon tea with champagne. I made a bunch of sarah bernhardt confectionary cakes that consist of chocolate truffle on macaroon covered with chocolate, they are by fare my favorite petit four. I made another bunch of napoleons hats with an outer cookie crust and inside almond paste (marzipan) with the bottom dipped for extra indulgence. Then I made piecrust fudge squares decorated with nuts and some more chocolate. Whipped up some lemon curd with toast and Lív my "party arrangement gradian angle" made the finest finger sandwiches ever!

Another ingenious Czech thing

Click on picture to enlarge Alfons Maria Mucha (24 July 1860 – 14 July 1939) was a Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist. His Art Nouveau style was often imitated. However, this was a style that Mucha attempted to distance himself from throughout his life; he insisted always that, rather than adhering to any fashionable stylistic form, his paintings came purely from within and Czech art. His favorite object was the actress Sara Bernhart. Bernhardt was so satisfied with the success of that first poster that she entered into a 6 years contract with Mucha. When German troops marched into Czechoslovakia in the spring of 1939, Mucha was among the first people to be arrested by the Gestapo. During the course of the interrogation the aging artist fell ill with pneumonia. Though eventually released, he never recovered from the strain of this event, or seeing his home invaded and overcome. He died in Prague on July 14, 1939 of a lung infection, and was interred there in the Vyšehrad cemetery.

The Mole Krteček is the animated mole created by Czech animator Zdeněk Miler. It instantly woke up many good memories when I saw a big poster of Krteček in a bookshop. I love the soft stroked semi transparent leafs/foliage and the color pallet.

Pretty Prague

I´m (if possible) more in love with Kristjan and definitely in love with Prague after this lovely weekend. We had such a great time. This was my third visit to the Czech capital. My previous visits have been during the summer, so I have been looking forward to seeing the city covered in winter colors. 

Prag is probably pretty in all weather, but to me the city is precious during winter.        Anyways we ate a lot, walked a lot and enjoyed the company....or at least I did.

Weekend getaway

Kristjan birthday gift to me was a long weekend trip to Prague. We´r off from tomorrow morning and be back sunday. I´m so looking forward to it and will of course post about it on monday. Until then have a splendid time!

O HAPPY DAY

I turned 29 this morning and on my Facebook account I received over 60 greetings. It warms my heart. Kristjan and I spent the day just chilling and having some sushi. We also went to the hospital to visit this little fellow. Kristjans sister Jóhanna gave birth to him yesterday. Isn´t he adorable? He was very calm and very cute. Now I´ll write in faroese. Eg havi lagt myndir á mína Flickr konto. Har eru myndir í 500 px og í 1200 px. Best er at printa út tær í 1200 px.

Blue as in china

I´m completely obsessed with classical blue & white china. To me there is nothing better than a table set with crisp clean white linen and china in blue & white. These pictures by danish photographer Trine Thorsen are just so darn pretty and just my cup of tea.

Thought the colors were pretty, so I ordered Kristjan to stop washing the dishes because I had to take a picture. Kristjan said:"You are aware that you are now taking a picture off my dishwashing?" as in you are so strange!
